Annual Conference OPENS AT CHRISTCHURCH. (Per Press Association.) (’IIKISCHURCH. January 23. The annual conference of the teachers of the Catholic Schools of N'.cw Zealand was opened at Christchurch this morning. It will comtiuue till Thursday.
Bishops Brodie (Christchurch), Lis ton I Auckland) and Whyte (Dunedin) are attending the conference.
There are 150 delegates, representing nearly all of the teaching Orders of the Dominion present at the con*Terence, including representatives of the Mari-st Fathers, the Marist Brotherjs, the Christian Brothers, the Sisters of Mercy. the Sisters of Notre Dame Des Missions, the Dominican Nuns, the «JSisterjs of Nazareth, the Sisters of the Sacred. Heart, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. and the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
Bishop Brodie welcomed the delegates to-day. Rev. Father J. Dowling, of Wei lington, presided over the. first session of the conference, the subject discussed being “Teacher Train -
