Mrs Scott. Nelson, is visiting Greymouth. Mr J. A\ . Mcllroy, of Christchurch, is visiting Greymouth. Mr and Mrs P. McNeil, who have been visiting Greymouth, will return to Christchurch to-day. The condition of Miss K. Power, of South Beach, who underwent an operation in the Grey Hospital yesterday, is reported to be satisfactory. Mr J. McGuigan, of Christchurch, hnd formerly of Greymouth, has been here on a visit during the past few days, and returns overland this week. Guests at Bevington’s Hotel include Mr R. C. Murie (Wellington), Mr W. H. Lee (Christchurch), Mr P. G. Martin (Christchurch), Mr J. L. Harrison (Christchurch), Dr. Telford (Christchurch), Mr Huggins (Christchurch). An official wireless message from Rugby states that Admiral Sir John Kelly has been appointed Commander-in-Chief at Portsmouth, in succession to Admiral Sir Arthur Waistell Kelly, who in 1931 was appointed Command-er-in-Chicf of the British Atlantic Fleet. To mark his recent marriage. Mr C. L. Thompson, Chief Clerk of the Locomotive Branch of the Railway Department, Greymouth, was presented with a case of crockery. The presentation was made by the Loco Foreman, Mr J. Cornish, who extended to Mr Thompson the best wishes of the staff for his future happiness. The death took place yesterday, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Nesbitt, Chapel Street, of Mrs Ellen Malone. The deceased, who had been ailing for about six weeks, was 89 years of age, and had resided on the West Coast for GG years at Hokitika, No Town and Greymouth. She was a native of Clonaslcc, King County, Ireland. Her husband. Michael Malone, predeceased her 20 years ago. She leaves four daughters (Mesdames Dewhurst, Nesbitt and Sumner, of Greymouth, and A twill, of Christchurch), and three sons (William and John, of Greymouth, and Michael, of Christchurch). The funeral will take place to-morrow morning.
