(Own Correspondent.' Poultry Show. ' WESTPORT. June 17. Luder the auspices of tin? local ' Poultry Club the annual show was of- < licially opened last evening by the’ Mayor. Mr J-. Kilkenny, at the Friendly Societies’ Hall. Ther c was a good attendance of the general public and th e show from every aspect was most successful. The number of entries showed a marked increase on previous years. This improvement could probably he accounted for by the tact that the country clubs. Millerton and Waimai.garoa did not hold shows owing to the prevailing economic conditions. The excursion from Christchurch would also have the effect of increasing the exhibits. The entries were nd of a high standard and compared more than favourably with previous yvai>. AH the birds benched (■■. line from the best breeders in the Duller district and on the Coast. ,\ new section was added to 1 he show, a vat section, and the exhibits from Canterbury proved at! roc live.
