SOVIET REFUSES RELEASE. (Received June, 17 at 7.10 p.m.) LONDON. June 17. Thy “Daily Telegraph” says the Russian Foreign Minister M. Litvinoff met Mr Felix Dole the Chairman of the Metropolitan Vickers Company. M. Litvinoff refused even to con* <dcr the release of the Vickers employees. Thornton and MacDonald, until Britain had lifted the embargo on Russian goods. M. Litvinoff added that appeals in Russia are rarely hoard before a year after the con* viction, and six months at tho earliest. _M. Litvinoff sees no reason to ex* I 'dite the procedure in the case of Thornton and MacDonald, unless Britain facilitates it. BRITISH GOVERNMENT ATTITUDE. (Received June IS at 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, June ,17. It is stated that the interview by Felix Pole with M. Litvinoff requesting- the release of Thornton and MacDonald, is entirely unofficia.l. The Government is taking no steps to approach M. Litvinoff, who has not communicated with the Foreign Office.
