CHEMIST FINED. (Per Presg Association). ASHBURTON, June 9. A case of interest to Friendly Society doctors and chemists, was heard to-day, when the manager of the Ashburton United Friendly Society’s Dispensary was fined £2 for failing to enter in a register the dangerous drugs sold by the dispenser or distributed by him.
Defending counsel said that in the majority of cases details were entered properly, but as the prescription books, issued by Lodges, were the members’ own property, the original prescriptions could not be kept for a year, as required by the Act. Doctors would have to supply prescriptions on separate forms. WATERSIDER’S CLAIM. CHRIATCIIURC.it, June 9. A claim for £lOO was heard by Mr Young, S.M., at the Lyttelton Court this morning, plaintiff being Harry Hutson, watorsider, who alleged that five employers of labour had combined to injure him in his calling. Defendants were Arthur Knight Dyne, stationmaster, Lyttelton; Robert C. S. Kipage, agent for the New Zealand Shipping Company; Walter Scott, master mariner; Joseph Garrard, branch manager for Kinsey and Co., and Thomas Henry, wharf superintendent for the Union Company, all of whom denied combination in refusing to give plaintiff work. ; Counsel stated that in March plaintiff was bound over on a'charge of assault. Tie. had thrown a knife along a table. The knife unfortunately struck the foreman, and plaintiff was charged with assault. Magistrate Mosley had then stated the case was not as serious as it appeared. The defendants had considered the penalty imposed not sufficiently severe, and plaintiff had thus been unable to obtain work.
