(Our Own Correspondent.) 'l’he Ritnanga Borough Council met 0.. 'fin's.lay evening, ihe Mayor Mr R. MvTiiggart presiding. Crs. Duggan, Bowes, Oakley and Price were also pre sent. Mr G. Clay advised the Council that the porch of his residence was or the plans ami specifications wlon his house was tir>t erected manv y<ars ago. The Runanga Band waited on the Council. Mr Wylde, the President, asked the Council to grunt :i section for a Band room for the BandT sole use, (he building |o be .“.Oft by 301*1. 'l’ho intention was to enlarge it later for social evenings, etc. The s»s*tioll desired wa> Borough reserve. Reli’* 1 workers wou!d be employed clearing th ( < section. Mr Smith stated the Baud hud no liabilities and had a strong so cial committee to raise funds The Mayor complimented the Band on it> progressive step. The Council would grant a portion of the ‘-pound’’ for the Band room. It would al>o pro vide relief men to char the area and assist in erecting the building, providing there was proper supervision. Other (’oimcillors supported the Mayor’ remarks. Messrs Hart and Powell waited on the Council on behalf of the Unemployed and asked assistance towards u boot r ( pairing scheme, fo: lathes and tools to the amount of about £7 The Mayor stated that the Council could probably procure a building but
