AUSTRALIAN RAIN
Heavy Damage Expected (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) SYDNEY, June 6. Torrential rain has fallen on the north coast and caused fears of floods on all river systems between the Bellringer and Hunter Rivers. Flooding of minor crocks has already occurred. As much as seven inches in fortyeight hours has fallen in some districts. The rain was caused by energetic cyclonic disturbances which last night, centred between Lord Howe Island, and New South Wales coast. Warning has been issued to shipping indicating south easterly gales, rough seas on north and central coasts. Further heavy rain has fallen in the pastoral districts of Queensland improving the prospects of graziers and p’astoralists. Heavy rain has fallen throughout the agricultural areas of Western Australia, causing floods in some parts, and wmshaways on several coun* try railways. The* low-lying township of Moora, 108 miles from Perth, which is flooded almost annually, is again suffering from overflow of water from a creek which runs through the town. A number of persons have already loft their flooded homes. Others are preparing to leave. The roads in the district are under water. Fallen trees have dislocated telephone service. Loss of are reported from many places. The damage to wheat fields may reduce the crop by fifty per cent.
