VICE REGAL HOLIDAY AT ROTORUA. GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S HOLIDAY. (Pep press Association). ROTORUA, June 1. The Governor-General and Lady P.ledisloe, who have been spending ten days’ holiday in the Rotorua district, left to-day for Auckland, where IT is Excellency will be present for the King’s Birthday celebrations. During their stay Their Excellencies did not carry out any official programme as the visit was purely in the nature of a holiday. The Vice-Regal party visited Wairakei on two days, and the Governor also presented the Ahu Whenua Cup, which His Excellency presented for the best Maori farmer on the land development schemes in the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty districts. The cup -was presented to the winner, Wiremu Swinton, of Raukakore, at a large Maori gathering at Ohinemutu, which was also attended by the Native Minister, Sir A. T. Ngata. Their Excellencies also attended the Rotorua Winter Show, and enjoyed several short trips to scenic spots in the district.
