(per Press Association). NELSON, May toThe last, shipment of fruit, to the United Kingdom was forwarded from Wellington, yesterday. The total for the season was 724,426 cases against 991.729 last year. The drop was due to this being an off season for orchards however good the conditions. Mr. J. H. Brunt, shipping supervisor anticipates that with suitable climatic conditions, next season’s crop in an “on” year, should exceed the present record. Delicious and Statesman cropped particularly well. The falling off was due mainly to light cropping by Stunners. Pear exports rose from 39,000 to 45,960 cases.
