WOMEN’S COUNCIL

ELECTION OE OFFICERS. NATIONALITY QUESTION. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, March 30. The conference of the 'Council of Women carried a remit urging that both sexes should be placed on an equality in regarl to nationality. Another remit adopted expressed the the Council’s regret that the League of Nation’s Conference have refused the request, of women of forty one, nations that a woman should not lose her nationality upon marriage. It was recommended that the New Zealand Government should, be urged to continue efforts towards this. N.Z. MADE GOODS. It was decided that the Council ask thq Manufacturers Association to supply all storekeepers with a list of New Zealand made goods. Delegates remarked that it had been proved in many cases that neither the retailers nor the customers knew the full extent of New Zealand products. Miss S.E. Jackson was presented with a purse and so ivenior upon her retirement from the position of Dominion Treasurer. She was made a life member of the Dominion Executive, in nplprcciation of her services. She is the first officer officially awarded permanent possession of a Dominion badge an honour which she said she appreciated most of all. At the annual meeting, the following officers were elected to the Council for the coming vear: Dominion President, Miss B. C. Carnachan; Hon. Solicitor, Miss Melville; Hon. Dominion Secretary, Miss C. H. Flatt; Dominion Treasurer, Mrs E. Mac Nair; Auditor, Miss Basten. Doctor De’amare was elected to fill the vacancy in the Standing Committee for Public Health, and Mrs McNair and Miss Carnachan were elected to the Committees for Finance and Economic Questions respectively.
