CROUPIER' S DISQUALIFICATION. WELLINGTON, March 30. The appeal of R. J. Murphy, the new owner of the racehorse Croupier, for the removal of the disqualification of the horse for one year from October 22, 1932, has been dismissed by the Judges appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference to hear the appeal. The deposit was ordered to be refunded. RACING. Already if is announced that Might and Eminent fire doubtful starters at Riccarton, and may be raced in the North Island at the Easter meetings. Traymela, the three-year-old brother to Tea Chat, has been leased from his owner by the Trentham trainer T. Yates. The hurdler Tunbridge is now among the regular visitors to the Trentham track, but nothing much has yet been required from him. He is perfectly sound. The Auga. Caliente Handicap was scheduled to be run last Sunday, but recent cables indicate that a postponement has been made until next Sunday. This is probably due to the fact that owing to the American banking crisis racing had to be suspended for a period. Morena had not raced since the spring prior to contesting the two high weights at Oamaru. D.I. Meredith, who will be remembered as the trainer of Sea De’il has rejoined the ranks of trainers at Te Awamutu with three horses Rita’s Light, Gallant Jack and King Comet, under his charge Rita’s Ligkt, by Illumination, shows many of her sire’s qualities and is a recent winner. When trained hero previously, Rita’s Light had a good private reputation, but was thought to kc unreliable. However, she looks in first-class condition to go on paying her way. Gallant Jack and King Comet, especially the latter, look useful types to work on, and Meredith should not be long in getting back, to the winning list It has been decided that Concentrate and Martian Chief will not be taken over for the Randwick autumn meeting, but will be raced at Riccarton. Beryl Latour’s second at Pacroa was her best effort to date and a repetition of that form would make- her dangerous at Stratford to-morrow. She has never looked or done better than at the moment. As Safe Bank has failed to show any sprinting ability, it is his trainer’s intention to try him over a journey. The half brother to Town Bank does not appear to have made much headway. King’s Knave did not race as well at Paeroa as previous track-work suggested he would, but there is little amiss with him and he should add fur-

ther to his total of £B2O before the season closes. Emancipation is being kept up to the collar with a. view to the Auckland Easter meeting. From an indifferent beginning, this fellow has developed into a useful hurdler and may soon be in much better company. The injury which Erination receive*.] before the Waipa meeting is still keeping him in th e paddock. Kanapa ran two fair races at Paeroa and may be given a race at Ellerslie at Easter. No horse at Te Awamutu looks in better order than does Jonathan. His third at Te Rapa, after a slow beginning, was a really good effort, and time is making a. gr(*yt improvement in him. Impasto has disappointed his keenest admirers, but he gives the impression that he may be as good as any of his age next season, and the racing and travelling he is having now should be of great, benefit. Limeen, looking in great heart, has done a lot of road-work, and is expected to resume track duties at an early date*. Bambury brought his total for the season up to five wins when he scored at Paeroa He appears to be improving in stamina and becoming more solid. At present he is being allowed to freshen up. Since the Te Rapa meeting Loombination has gone on in the right way and is galloping in improved style. Lucidus has not been asked to do any work since the Takap'una meeting at. the end of January and has put on a lot of condition. Plesty of long, strong work apparently agrees with Goodfellow, for ho has never looked better, but whether he will show any improvement in his galloping ability remains to be seen. Another unplaced performance at Paeroa went down to Marechai, making ten starts for no returns. Looking well and solid, Marechai is disappointing after last season’s consistency. Protomint is rounding into shape and with the softer tracks approaching should not be long in getting back to his best. Arawa Rose is being kept in work looks well. It is doubtful where she will next race but, it may be at Avondale, Racing has brought Sea Ruler to his best a 11( i as he can handle a soft track, he should be a paying proposition during the winter. It is intended to give Sir Musk a course of hurdling and in his first attempt he gave a promising display. Rather small to get very far in this department, it is thought that hurdling may develop him in other directions. Both at Te Rapa and at Paeroa Trishna disappointed his connections, and he is another who may be given schooling lessons. Kurapae was taken to Paeroa, but was not started His fourth at Te Rapa in his last start was encouraging and he should be further improved when next seen out. Transaction has run. one or two very fair races this season, but on the whole she has not been a great success, and has got to that stage where little improvement ean be expected.

For the short time he lias been in work Ruri has done remarkably well. An unplaced performance at Taumara-. nui was followed by three seconds. He got out of the maiden clas>s at Te Aroha, wa s unlucky to be beaten into fourth position on the first day of Pacroa and scored an easy win on the second. A rare type, Ruri has the appearance of a. good horse. Veilmond has at times earned some uncomplimentary references to his form and he has been dubbed unreliable, or shifty, but he* has won over £21,000 in stakes. There are rumours now that he is showing symptoms of wind trouble. TROTTING. The death is reported of the wellknown mare Win Soon. a winner of the Trotting Gup. Two three-year-old trotters who are shaping in very promising style at Epsom are Young Rodney and Worthy Kate, and in a work-out on Saturday in company with the older and more experienced pacers, Prince Etawah and Fisher, they ran a very creditable mile and a-half. Young Rodney, who is being worked under the care of C G. Lc*e, has had more experience in company than Worthy Kate, a member of A. J. Julian’s team, and while he beat her home in 3.46|, the filly did remarkably wo]] to clock 3.48 on the journey. Young Rodney is a big raking three-year-old by Nelson Bingen from a Great Audubon mare, and he has made steady progress, and should soon be ready to race Worthy Kate is by Worthy Bond, from Haricot, a mare who won some useful free-legged races in the province some seasons ago. The filly was vc*ry backward when first tried at the trotting gait, but during the last few weeks she has come along in fine style and is making such good progress that she should be* far enough advanced to be given a race or two at the later meetings on the country circuit. The two throe-year-olds are shaping better than several older mainden trotters who have been in work for sonio considerable time. The Oamaru winner, Sunny Ducrow, has lightened up considerably after her trip south and will be given a few days on the oasy list before recommencing work in view of contesting the Welcome Handicap for three and four-year-olds, to bo decided on the second day of Addington Easter meeting.
