TO MR F. P. WALSH, President, Seamen’s Union. J ALEXANDER McLEOD, District Secretary of the Wellington Freezing Works and Related Trades Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers, express my sincere regret to Mr F. P. Walsh for having circulated an untrue report to the effe ct that Mr Walsh had advised the seamen at a meeting held at Napier on the 10th November, 1932, to load on all vessels meat that had been killed in Hawke’s Bay by free labour and that he gave similar advic e to a meeting of the Executive of tho Napier Waterside Workers’ Union, which it is alleged he addressed. On subsequent enquiry I am satisfied that this report is untrue and I regret making the sameI regret further having handed a copy of the letter containing the ioiegoing report to two men whom .1 believed on reasonable grounds to )e members of the Seamen’s Union, but whom it appears were very likely in reality members of the Communist Party. I sincerely regret that I should have been a medium for circulating this incorrect report which,, being admittedly untrue, is of a nature likely to damage Mr Walsh’s position in the Labour Movement. At the same time while expressing such regret I wish to place on record that at the time of my publishing the said report I had reasonable grounds for believing the same to be true. It turns out to be untrue. I therefore unreservedly withdraw it and express my regret to Mr Walsh. > WHY SUFFER WITH CORNS? WHY SUFFER WITH CORNS; WHY SUFFER WITH CORNS? WHY SUFFER WITH CORNS?
