A fleet of fifteen speed boats met the “Aquitania” with Sir Malcolm Campbell abroad, off Calshot, and formed an escort into Southampton where he received a great welcome. Sir M. Campbell believes that after a few minor adjustments the Blue Bird could improve the speed record over 272 miles
an hour, but Daytona Beach would probably be unfit for motor racing for RUGBY, March 8. A new engine has been fitted to the monopiano a,n which Gayford and Nicholetts broke the long distance record. An electricity grid system, which
consists of a vast network of main transmission lines covering almost the whole of Britain, for distributing electricity from selected generating stations will be substantially completed during the present year. It was stated in Parliament that the total capital expenditure on its construction will be 27 millions sterling, exclusive of the interest during the construction.
