MR BRUCE’S LONDON SOJOURN. (Aus. N.Z Cable I.OA’DOX. February 21. Air Bruce, who was a guest ut the Canadian Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon, made the first public pronouncement a s to future Australian representation in London, saying; ‘*l cannot believe that the system of maintaining a Cabinet Minister in Lon. don will be <xtended by Australia, or followed by other Dominions. I am here as a still in the Govern meat, to do certain specific jobs, after which I shall return to Australia. We may temporarily continue keeping some Minister here but it is unlikely that we always will be able to spare one; consequently, we probably will revert to the system of a High Commissioner. which, after ail. worked fairly well. ’ ’
In a subsequent interview. Mr Bruce declined to amplify his luncheon remarks regarding the policy of London representation, but the specific jobs referred to may now be regarded as almost entirely financial. Mr Bruce, however, commenced to occupy the official residence in Ennismore Gardens only in January, and this, with other factors, may be interpreted as meaning a stay of at least another three months
