(Our Own Correspondent.; REEFTON, February 16. Mr Mangos, of Lyell was a visitor to Recfton io day. renewing old friendships. Mr Fred Keating, of t:ie new Albion Hotel, West port, arrived in Reefton to-day on a brief visit. Mr John Ross of Brown Creek, fnangahua Va.ley, secured first prize with his draught horse at the Westport A. and P. Show last week-end. He is to be heartily congratulated upon the possession of such a splendid stallion. Miss Sinc’air, sister of Mrs A.| Walker, Cronadun, has just returned to Cronadun, after being in GreymoutL Hospital tor three week where she underwent a severe operation Miss M. Morrison, formerly of Cronadun, but now of Stillwater, is at present on a visit to Mrs A. Walker of Cronadun. Mr and Mrs A. Agent and fami'y and Miss E Agent, of Westport, were visitors to Cronadun for the week-end! where they were the guests of M r and: Mis p Smith. Mr J. Hid, who entered Rec ft on ! Hos, ital some week or two ago to undergo an operation, has so far recovered that he is able to be about again. Last night at 10 30 the erockerx I plate glass window in Wills’ Ltd. Store in Buller Rjad, was broken by a large stone being thrown through it. The] stone landed in a bow] among a large amount of Doulton ware, and it is thought that the perpetrator had th’ destruction of this valuable crockery in bis mind when th,, stone was thrown. The missile was about three inches in diameter. An act of vandalism such as this cannot bo too roundly condemned. I’hey are of no benefit 1 anyone, except to provide an hour or iwo’s work in the replacement M the glass, and it is a fact that someone has to bear th e cost, and this eventually c.nnes down to the con Mtnmr. and th: l more destruction the greater the cost of goods to who re quire them. \V,. understand the ] olicchave i h • matter in ham! T'ne swimming carnival set down for to-night, has been postponed until Sunday afternoon, owing to the un--1 a\ouralde state of the weather. Mr (’. Nevil.e, tile wel' known Stick lns;cutor of Hokitika, was a visi.or to Reefton last night and left o;j return today.
