TEACHER SUSPENSION QUESTION. (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, February 16. As the result of a protest made at the meeting of the Otago Education Board on Wednesday morning, regarding the powers given to School Committees to suspend teachers, a report was forwarded to the Afinister of Education yesterday morning. The Chairman of the Otago Board (Mr James Wallace) read the following’ reply today: “With reference to Clause 40 of the Education Amendment Bill, through a misunderstanding power is given to School Committees to suspend teachers for neglect of duties, etc. This was not intended, and steps are now being taken to amend the clause in committee.
