St. Mary’s Show

St. Mary’s Church Flower Show at the Soldiers’ Hall to-day was a great success, the flowers, vegetable, cookery and decorative sections all being well filled and the standard of the entries was surprisingly good. Mr W. 1). Murray (Greymouth), judge of the flowers, said there were some splendid blooms, especially the zinnias. Mr P. Blanchfichl. cookery judge, praised the entries generally, and especially the sponge classes, which were almost 100 per cent, perfect. Mr Murray remark ed that the decorative and fancy work entries were most artistic indeed. Some exceptionally good exhibits were to be seen in the vegetable section, which attracted a largo number of entries, and the majority of these were very fine specimens. Alention must be made of the work carried out by Mr C. Jganders (secretary), and Mr A. W. Yarrall. Those efforts distinctly re-

fleeted on the positive success of the organisation. Results of the awards were as follows:— Flowers. Gladioli (9) —Airs E. Greenwood s, F. Groufsky 2.
