MOTORIST ACQUITTED. CYCLIST HURT IN COLLISION NEW PLYMOUTH. February 15. Not guiltv on both charges was the verdict of the jury at the Supreme Court to-day after the trial of Arthur William Lowe, who was charged that he drove a car negligently, | thereby causing bodily harm to William Ross Cochrane, and that he caused bodily harm in circumstances which if death had taken place, he would have been guilty «of manslaughter. Cochrane had suffered serious injuries and he was in hospital for 28 weeks. A collision had occurred on a corner at Opunake. Witnesses differed as to whether Cochrane, who was riding I:i bicycle had a light. MEAT STRIKE FRACAS. ASSAULT CHARGE FAILS. NEW PLYMOUTH. February 13. Leonard Bernard Dombroski was ac quitted by the jury, after trial, on changes of assaulting and causing bodily harm to Edgar Denton Tate. The case arose from the disturbance at Waitara on January 7 between strikers and free labourers at the freezing works. Tate had his nose broken. The evidence for the police was that an attack was made by Donibroski and Mc-Gircal, who had since disappeared. The defence contended the witnesses were mistaken as to who struck the blows.. . * JURY DISAGREE. NEW PLYMOUTH. February 15. The jury disagreed On charges against Andrew Charles William Krause of stealing 73 sheep valued at 1 £36 10s at Kotarc. There were alternative charges of receiving stolen sheep’. A new trial next session was ordered
