THE WEATHER

WELLINGTON, February 9. The weather forecast is as follows: Genera] situation: Pressure has risen in the north and epst, but is falling elsewhere, under the influence of a moderate depression that is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: 'Moderate to fresh, and increasing, west to north winds. Seas (N. Z. waters): Rather roitgh about Cook Strait, and increasing generally on the west coast; otherwise smooth to moderate. Eastern Tas man Sea: Moderate to strong northerly winds, and moderate, but rising seas. Weather cloudy to overcast, warm and humid; r ain developing in the western and far southern districts of the South Island; elsewhere, some local showers and thunder. Fairly general rain is likely within th e next two or three days.
