ASSAM’S MANY SHOCKS. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.) CALCUTTA, December 5. The long series of earth tremors, ■which have been disturbing Assam, show no sign of abatement. Dhubri, which appears to be thc centre of the disturbance, is continuing to register one daily, while it is reported that a hill in the Gard Range, Assam, has become active, smoke issuing from the crest. Experts do not anticipate danger, believing that, although Assam is on a volcanic chain, there is no cause for alarm. QUEENSLAND STORMBRISBANE, December 6. A cyclonic storm broke over Gayndah. causing extensive damage. Hail smashed -windows in nearly every business house and residence. The gale unroofed homes, and two churches and schools. The maize crops were flattened and citrus orchards stripped. The hailstones weighed up to twenty ounces each. Two horses were killed.
