REEFTON NOTES

(From Our Own Correspondent). REEFTON, September 21. The condition of Mrs J. McNamara, of Blackwater, who is a patient at the Reef ton Hospital, this morning, showed no improvement, she being very seriously ill. Mr E. Bolitho, Black’s Point, show ed a slight /improvement last evening, but his condition remains very serious. Dr. Marshall, was last night appointed Medical Officer to the Loyal Reefton Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F Dr. Logan, Waiuta, was a visitor to Reefton this morning. At the Inangahua Rugby Union meeting, the following were present: — Messrs T. C. Hepburn (Chair), F. Warcher. G. N. Orsbourn, N. Collins, A. Palmer, W. J. Barry and A. G. Reid ft wa s decided to inform the Waratan Club thc Union adhered to- its motion re. returning of sox and fine of 2s. Pei mission was granted Waratrh Club to travel to Westport on September 30 to play Old Boys on October 1, and Granity Rovers on October 2nd. Fix tures for Sunday are a s follows:— Senior: Stars v. Inangahua reps., 3 p.m. (Mr P. Gallagher, referee); Inangahua B. v. C., a t 1.45 p.m., (Mr Cutbush, referee). Juniors:—Black’s Point v. Waratah, at 1.15 p'.m. (Mr P Flynn, referee). It was decided to give notice of th c intention of the Sub-Unio n to deal drastically with th larrikin element on the side-line, which causes a deal of discomfit, to spectators, who pay their way. whereas, the unruly element enter free. The Director wa s asked to supply the Secretary w v th a list of th c School’s chemical requirements, and the latter was instructed to write to the U.S. Mines Department, and ascertain whether it ca n assist in view of the expense of private purchase and the number of assays done free by the School. A hearty vote of thanks was recorded to Messrs T. C. O’Brien and Jas. Patterson, for canvassing for new members also to those who so readily responded. The Committee also expressed th p iir appreciation of t.h e success of the canvass, by which over 5(1 new membe’s were enrolled.

The following ladies hav e qualified for ther local Ladies’ Championship: — Mr s Prentice 93; Airs Sharpe 93,; Miss K/Jig 101; Miss Kearns 103; Mrs T. Patterso n 103; Mrs Hubbard 107; Airs I. Patterson 108;AIrs Kane 109. The result of th? Medal Match, played on Saturday was: —Mrs Sharp e net score 74; Aliss King do 75; Mrs I. Patterson do 75. The following is the order of pla v for. the first round of the Ladies’ Championship, to be played on Sunday: —Airs Prentice v. Mrs Kane; Aliss Kearns v. Airs T. Patterson; Aliss King v. Air 8 Hubbard; Mrs Sharpe v. Airs I. Patterson. There will be no L.G.U. match on Friday, 23rd instant, owing to the first round of the championship being played on Saturday.
