ARAPUNI HYDRO

The Seepage A SMALL INCREASE. (Per Press Association). HAMILTON, September 21. As the result of a small increase in seepage, in the headrace at A rapuni. being noticed yesterday morning, the diversion tunnel was opened last evening to improve the conditions for an inspection by a diver. The inlet of the seepage was discovered just outside the coffer dam. in the exact locality where it was expected. Remedial measures have already been taken. It is expected that the tunnel will be closed again to-night, and that the water will go over the spillway again in the early hours of the ‘morning. Work on the “island’’ dam. which | was proposed for just such an emergency as this, will be put in hand immediately. The lowering of the water level ami the remedial work have not interfered with the generation of power.
