Wellington B Tour first match. MARLBOROUGH BEATEN. BLENHEIM, September 21. The Wellington team opened their tour of the Scddon Shield districts today. by defeating Marlborough by 19 points to 9. There was brilliant weather. rhe visitors were superior in the scrums, line-outs and in the backs. The Marlborough forwards went wll in the loose, and raised the score to ■he final figures after being 16 points behind. Wellington scored four tries, two being converted, and a penaltv goal Marlborough scored three unconverted tries. Although the game was patchy, the Wellington backs showed nice combination at times, and got their points 1 by open play. Marlborough were outclassed in the first spell, but in the second half their loose rushes, back and forward, enabled them to sweep the defence .iside and enjoy a period of ascendancy, during which they scored but three times.
