News has been received by Mrs Herman Raudnicz, of Hataitai of the death of Dr. Vaclav Vojtech. a member of the Byrd expedition. He was drowned while visiting friends at a Boy Scout camp, not f ar from Prague, in Czecho-Slovakia, a canoe capsizing with a friend and himself, and Voj tech getting into difficulties. He was 31 years of age, and had just been invited to take part in the Canadian Polar expedition by aeroplane. a n offer which he had accepted. While in New Zealand. Dr. Vojtech visited many places, and became known to many people, particularly i n Dunedin and Wellington.—Press Association.
