The New Zealand Boxing Council has appointed the following officials for the New Zealand Amateur Championships at New Plymouth on September 27, 28, and 29. Referees: N. McLean (Auckland). E. Perry (Wellington), L. C. Cotter (Blenheim). Judges.— North Island. J. Bush (Auckland), I). 11. Nowbigin (Hastings). South Island 4 S. Lindsay ( Invercargill). J. Kilmartin (Dunedin). The Council has reserved the right to appoint further judges. SYDNEY, Sept. 19. At Sydney Stadium, to-night. Clyde Christian gained another victory, obtaining a points decision over TigerPayne. in a twelve-round bout, which, was splendidly contested. AN EARLY KO. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assnt. (Received September 20 at 7 p.m.) PANAMA. Sopt-mber 19. Al Brown, of New York, the world bantamweight boxing champion, retained the title on Monday night here by knocking out Emil Pladner. the French challenger, in the first round of a scheduled fifteen rounds bout.
