LIFE OF PARLIAMENT

Coalition’s Latest A PERMANENT EXTENSION. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, September 19. An announcement that it is proposed to introduce legislation during the session to extend the life of Parliament permanently from three years to four years was made by Air G. W. Forbes this evening. “The legislation passed during tho session earlier this year merely extended the life of Parliament by a year,” said Air Forbes. That special bill was designed to met an emergency in economic legislation with which w’e have been dealing. It generally contemplated a four-year plan of readjustment. As there appeared to be a general desire last session that Parliament’s life should be permanently extended to four years, it has been decided to submit legislation to that end later this session.”
