Almost all of the sawmilling interests in South la ml were represented, and millers from Otago were also present. “There is justification for our feeling that at no previous time have the prospects been so bright for a fillip being given to the sawmilling industry of Otago and Southland.” said Air D. J. Wesncy, who presided. “We all hope that the order will be secured, aml that it will be but the forerunner of prosperous business for the millers, and of increased employment for the timber workers. It is not so much a question of money as of the re-estab-lishment of the industry.” Mr W. Grieve, who dealt principally with the use of beech for motor body building, said that no man was more sympathetic towards Now Zealand than Sir William Morris, the motor manufacturer, and he felt sure that if the representations were made to Sir W. Morris by the delegation, he would give every consideration to the use of beech in his factories. The Conservator of State Forests, Mr N. J. Dolamore, assured the millers of his Department’s interest and co-oper-ation.
