Tn reply to a question at last evening’s meeting of the Business Queen Committee, as to whether the allocations being received for the uuemployed in Greymouth fell short o' the amount, the Mayor (Mr J. W. Greenslade) stated that nothing was now being received for single men, a.-« it was the desire of the Government that they should all go to camps. The

Government, he continued, considered these men should be engaged in more useful work than at present. As a very small amount of money was ai located to those who went into camps. Many single men had widowed mothers and could augment their 1 ‘ dole money” by getting an extra day’s work in the town, or could work > the garden at home.
