At the weekly meeting of the Can-ii-rhury League Centre, a letter was received from the West Coast Rugby League offering to send a junior representative team to Christchurch to play a curtain-raiser for the test game between England and New Zealand on August 13. The offer was accepted. It was decided to ask the West Coast LeagUi? to send a third grade team as well. to-day for stealing jewellery valued at £lO, during the riot on May 10. THEFTS BY CHINESE. AUCKLAND, June 29. “It’s not very often we have a Chinese up for stealing,” said Magistrate Hunt, wh n Fong Hung Sang 21, lauudryman, appeared on charges of theft of goods from countrymen. The police said that accused had a bad reputation among his own countrymen. He was sentenced to three months’ gaol.
