GARDEN ASSAULT
APPEAL AGAINST CONVICTION. BY MEN WHO PLEADED GUILTY. (Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn) SYDNEY. May 16. Seven out of the eight men who were convicted recently of assaulting Jack Garden at his home, applied to the Full Court for a rul e n si, calling on the “Labour Daily” newspaper to show cause why it should not be cited for contempt of court for the publica ion of articles likely to prejudice them at the hearing of ) heir appeal against their convictions. A rule nisi has been granted, as asked, and made returnable next Monday.
