CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW
St. John’s Society The 1932 Chrysanthemum Show of the St. John’s Horticultural Society was held in St. John’s Hall yesterday afternoon. It was a most successful show from all viewpoints, reflecting great credit on th<e Secretary, Mrs C. Wood, and her many willing helpers. The blooms were all of a high standard and numbered over two hundred, while the other two sections were also well contested. Rev. H. R. Fell formally opened the display in the afternoon, and thanked the ladies and gentlemen who had worked so hard to make the show the undoubted success it was. The judges were:—Cut Sowers and vegetables. Mr J. J. Breeze (Hokitika); decorative section, Mesdam.es F. Harley and H. C. Garde; cookery, Mr P. Blanchfield. Th e stall-holders wore:— Cakes, Mesdames O. McLean and A. H. Patterson; work. Mesdames Rose and Kyle; sweets, Mesdames Low and McDonald; vegetables, Mrs G. Wilson; cut flowers, Miss Meikle and Mrs Oldham; guild stall, Miss Jean Tennent. The trophies in the various sections were won by the following:— Decorative Section.—Miss N. Ten- , nent.
