Addington Market YESTERDAY’S SALE. (Special to “Argus.’’y CHRISTCHURCH, May 4. Values generally were lower and the sale as a whole was dull at the Addington live stock market to-day, which Matson and Co. review as follows: —v The store lambs were a smaller yarding, and were mostly backward lots. It was a dragging sale. There was a shorter yarding of store sheep. Values were irregular. There was a medium yarding of fat lambs, with only a small proportion of first quality. Competition was keeu up to the schedule rates. Extra heavy prime lambs sold to 23s 4d, prime 17 s to 19s 6d, medium 14s to 16s, light Ils to 13s, inferior from 9s 6d.

There was a medium yarding of fat sheep, but it was an unattractive catalogue and there was a dragging sale. Sales were hard to make. Best heavy prime wethers sold to 20s lOd, prime heavy 14s 6d to 17s 6d, prime 12s 9d to 14s 3d, medium Ils to 12s 6d, light from 9s; Extra heavy prime ewes sold to 15s 4d, prime heavy Us 3d to 13s 9d, prime 9s to 10s 6d, medium 6s 6d to Bs, light from 4s. There was a very large yarding of beef, mostly of medium quality lots. Any attractive lots met fair competition but for the most part the market w/is dull. Sales were hard to effect. One extra heavy prime steer made £l3 ’l7s 6d. Heavy steers sold from £9 5s to £lO 7s 6d, prime £8 2s 6d to £8 15s, medium £4 5s to £5 15s, light from £3 2s 6d. Best heifers sold to £8 12s 6d, prime £5 5s to £7 ss, light from £4. Extra heavy cows sold to £lO 2s 6d, prime £5 to £6 ss, medium £3 5s to £4 ss, inferior from £l.

There was a larger yarding of fat pigs, mostly porkers. These were easier. Baconers had a firmer demand. Porkers sold from 26s to 30s, heavier 32s 6d to 36s 6d, choppers 33s 6d to £6; baconers 38s 6d to 44s 6d, heavier 50s to 54s 6(1, extra heavy to £3 14s 6d.
