LACK OF LIGHTING
BOY KILLED BY MOTOR. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON. April 27. An inquest was held to-day on Alexander McDonald, aged eight years, who was killed by be ng knocked down by a motor-car while effecting repairs to a trolley in Jervois Quay on the -evening of April 16. The Coroner, Mr McNeil, recalled that in June last year, after having heard the opinions of laymen and the po.ice, lie thought it his duty to direct the attention of the C’ty Corporation to the lighting of Jervois Quay suggesting that it might be improved. He understood that the matter con sidered, but the evidence in the prerent case showed that the lighting was still inadequate. He again directed the attention of the authorities to the matter. H ( > also drew attention to th? danger of boys using unlighted trollies on the dark bitumen at night. If boys used trollies after dark, they should see they were properly lighted, and should not stop in the way of traffic, even in the event of something happening to the trolley. He found formally. in accordance with the medical evidence, of death by being run into by a car driven by John Henry Goldsworthy.
