N.Z. TRADE TREATY
With Canada SIGNED LAST NIGHT. (Per Presq Association). WELLINGTON, April 26. The Trade Treaty between Canada and New Zealand will be signed tonight according to a statement .made to-day by" the Prime Minister, and the Customs Resolution to give effect to the agreement will be introduced and passed by the House of Representatives to-morrow? When intimating that the full terms of the Treaty would be disclosed to the House 'todmorrow, simultaneously with similar action in the Canadian House of Compions, the Prime Mini ster said that the duty on Ne w Zealand butter would be at the rate or 5 cents per pound, similar to the duty on Australian butter entering Canada. Canadian manufactured goods would be able to enter New Zealand under more favourable terms than previous ly, and the items which were affected |bv the retaliatory measures taken past year would be restored to the ‘British preferential tariff schedule. I This related especially to motor-cars, I which, subject to slight modifications I governing the proportion of Canadian [workmanship would be permitted to [enter New Zealand as ureviouslv.
