WEDDING
BRUERTON—DRAKE. St. John’s Presbyterian Church, which haj bee n prettily decorated by friends of the bride, was yesterday morning packed with friends and wellwishers, when the wedding was celebrated by Rev H. R. Fell, assisted by Rev. A. Stuart, of Elizabeth Ruby (Bessie), only daughter of Mr and Mrs John Drake, Greymouth, to Mr Joseph Bruerton, also of Greymouth. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in an ankle length frock of ivory embossed celanese, made on simple lines, with a fully flared skirt. Her beautifully embroidered veil, kindly lent by Mrs O. McLean, was held in place with a circlet of orang e blossoms, and she carried a sheaf of white dahlias and chrysanthe. mums, with a touch of pink. The bride was attended by Miss N. Tennent. who wore an aukle-Length frock of apricot embossed georgette, i and a gold tissue hat. She carried a shower bouquet of autumn tinted~dahlias. Mr V. Stevens carried out the duties of best man. During the ceremony Mrs W. Cogswell rendered “My Prayer” in a very devotional manner, Mr Tennent p*residing at the organ. As the newly-wedded pair left the church they passed under an archway of multi-coloured streamers formed by members of the St. John’s Bible Class. After the ceremony a reception was held at Harker’s. wher e Mrs Drake received the guests, wearing a frock of brown velour, to tone. Mr and Mrs Joseph Bruerton left later on a motoring tour of the South Island, the bride travelling in a blue tailored costume with a smart hat to tone.
