BRITISH TARIFF
WILL CUT OUT MANY MANUFACTURES. (Aus. A N.Z. Cable Assn) LONDON, April 23. While the new tariffs arc generally welcomed in Britain, strong claims are being made for higher duties on pig iron. The pottery, wool textiles, leather, glace kid duties are causing concern in France, Germany, Belgium and America, all of these fearing a sharp drop in their exports to Britain. INDEMNIFYING BILL PASSED. LONDON, April 22. The Commons p'assed all stages of the Bill to indemnify successive Presidents of the Board of Trade against the penalties imposed by an Act passed in Queen Anne’s reign (as wirelessed yesterday).
