SHIPPING WAR

CUTS IN ATLANTIC FARES. (Aus. A N.Z. Cable Assn). BRUSSELS, March 31. The North Atlantic Shipping Conference adjourned without coming to a decision. In the meantime, the United States and White Star Lines have already pronounced fifteen to twenty per cent, reductions.

It later transpired that reductions in all classes of Atlantic steamship fares are now in operation. The French and German lines strongly opposed cuts, but unanimous acceptance became a necessity in view of the United States and White Star lines’ announcement of their immediate reductions.
