His wife, however, decided that it. was time the mattress was stuffed with fresh straw. Unknown to her husband, she threw the old straw to the cows—and one of them has swallowed a wallet. The man is faced with ’lie possibility of having to kill off the whole of his herd before he can hope to regain possession of his £3O.
