For the first time in South Africa a penny-in-the-slot machine Las been introduced at Durban, where scores of school children are putting their pennies in the machine aud drawing clean, wholesome milk through an -assized measure into straw cups. At present over 3000 penny bottles of milk, each about one-third of a pint, are sold each day to scholars in Durban schools. The milk is sterilised by a patent process, which has advantages over pasteurisation, as the milk is sterilised 'at a temperature above boiling point under pressure.
