Grey Unemployment Relief
A further appeal is being made for the Mayor’s relief. Since its inception. on July 11, 1931, until to-day, a
total of £557/17/- has been paid into the fund, and the money has all been | expended in return for work done by the unemployed on improvements to to the town. The Borough Council has expended £l2OO in the period on the purchase of material, transport, and i supervision. Apart from the Fund. Christmas dinners to the value of £BO I were also provided for those in need. During the past four months proceeds ‘ from various entertainments in aid of the Fund included the following:— Greymouth Cinemas £3O, Greymouth concert £24 Ils 9d, Sehaef’s dances (four) £l7 15s, Mawhera-Blaketown dance £l4 12s 3d. Trades picnic £7 0s Bd, local dance 16s 6d, Fernhill Skating Rink £1 3s. The Mayor has don ated £5 5s to the fund, and further subscriptions may be sent to him. It is requested that clothing and similar do nations be forwarded to the caretakei of the Town Hall.
