NEW WAGE TAX

TO RAISE THREE MILLIONS. WELLINGTON. March 30. In reference to the amount which the new Unemployment Tax of one shilling in the pound may be expected to produce, it is stated 'that the Government hopes to collect by way of the levy and this tax a sum in excess of £3,000,000. This amount will be the sole revenue at the disposal of the Unemployment Board, as an amending Bill provides that there is to be no subsidy from the Consolidated Fund for unemployment.
