Trower of Rotokohu, was brought into-Reefton Hospital on Sat-, urday, having been taken ill suddenly. To-day he was reported as being considerably better. The Reefton Ladies’ Croquet Club are sending representatives to Westport to-morrow to play the Westport Club. Tho club have made great strides in their play, but with their splendid green to practice on, it is little wonder that they have become so proficient. The annual meeting of the Reef ton Fire Brigade took place las evening, when Captain Jas. Eager occupied the cha r. The balance sheet, showing a small credit balance, was adopted. The election of oflioers resulted as follows: Captain, C. Coxall; Lieut., S. Newcombe; First Foreman, A. Parkinson; Second Foreman, C. Curtis; Ladder Foremen, G. Reid and J. Panckhurst; Secretary, A. Parkinson; Treasurer, C. Coxall; Auditor, J. Banks. The seventeenth annual show of tire Inangahua A. and P. Association was a distinct success. The flower display was exquisite, although previous shows have had a larger entry. The vegetables were a credit to any show, and when the extraordinarily wet season this year is taken into account the display must be regarded as ordinarily good. There were many in Reefton with flowers and vegetables equally as good who did not exhibit. One wonders why. A show must be of benefit ro any community. It brings strangers into the district, and everyone must reap benefit from their presence. Tha show was the means of bringing several New Zealand products under the notice of the Reefton public. The Kaiapoi Woollen Coy. exhibited all classes of woollen manufactures, socks, rugs, pullovers, clothes, etc. There was also an exhibit of Nelson paints by Mr Dan Wright an article acknowledged to be equal to the best British and foreign production, which is used very extensively in the Railway Workshops.
