DISARMAMENT

A KNOCK-BACK FOR BRITAIN. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) GENEVA, March J 4. Britain unsuccessfully sought in Article 20 of the draft of the Disarm ament Convention, to exclude consideration of the warships of one Powei being built by another. Japan. France and America vigorously opposed this proposal, emphasising that such vessels coulj be confiscated by the builders in wartime, upsetting the present agreed navy proportions, an obvious allusion to Britain taking over the Turkish and Chilian battleships in 1914.
