BOWLING
GREYMOUTH v. HOKITIKA. On Saturday afternoon, in glorious weather, three rinks from the Greymouth Bowling Club journeyed to Ho- 1 kitika, where they met rinks from that Club in a tournament, for the Reynolds Badges, held by a Greymouth rink. The lawns were in perfect order and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Hokitika will return the visit probably this week. Three of the Greymouth rinks tied with a winning margin of eight points each, whilst one rink lost by a margin of 12 points, and the fifth rink tied. Mercer’s rink retain the badges. Sergeant King welcomed the visitors, and Mr E. Moss responded. Detailed results are as follows (Hokitika players being mentioned first in each instance): — Anderson, Smith, Coles, King (s) 10 lost to Angus, Jones, Brislane, Mercer (s) 18. Kerr, Ward, Cooper, Benjamin (s) 23 beat Morrison, Adam, Sharp, Moss (s) 11. . Schultz, Park, Conning, Breeze (s) 18 lost to Kettle, Cochrane, Stevenson, Blair (s) 26. Bruce, Cooke, Sherman, Stevenson (s) 16 lost to Armstrong, T. Holmes, McCorkindale, Whibley (s) 24. Cox, J. King, Fleming, W. Wilson (s) 15 drew with Holt, Tabb, Holmes, E. Carey (s) 15. GREYMOUTH v. WAIUTA. At Waiuta yesterday, the Greymouth and Waiuta Clubs took part in a friendly match. The greens were in splendid order and the visitors much enjoyed the trip, being very well entertained during their visit. Mr J. Greengrass (President) welcomed the visitors, Mr Reynolds suitably responding. Waiuta, being a young club, very much appreciated the visit, and intend to return it in the near future. Scores are as follows (Waiuta players being mentioned first in each instance): — Smith, Morrison, Wood, Christie (s) 20 beat Tabb, Scott, Reynolds. Whibley (s) 13. ’ Ivan, Thorn, Banks, Peggie (s) 23 beat Sotheran, Shannon, Sharp, Fletcher (s) 14. Greengrass, Beckwith, A. Paul, Tomkinson (s) 11 lost to Brislane, Stevenson, Peak, Mercer (s) 34. Waiuta won two games out of the three. Greymouth, however, in the aggregate, won by 61 points to 54.
