INQUEST. (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, December 7. At the inquest on Douglas Marsh, aged 21 years, who was drowned yesterday while bathing, a verdict was returned of death by misadventure. As the result of a car overturning near Waimate North, on Saturday evening, Mr R.ushworth, member for the Bay of Islands, suffered a fracture of the right leg, which was injured during the war. He also had the tendons of the left wrist torn. He is progressing satisfactorily at Rawene hospital. BATHER DROWNED. GISBORNE, Dec. 7. Douglas Marsh, 21, boilermaker’s apprentice, was drowned while bathing yesterday, in a deep hole in the Waimat a River. A companion named Michie, who was an indifferent swimmer, and a 12-year-old boy, Trevor Stevens, made plucky but ineffectual efforts to save him. HOSPITAL PATIENT ARRIVES BY PLANE. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, December 7. The first patient to be transported by air to a Wellington Hospital arrived at Rongotai at 2 p.m. to-day, from Kaikoura. The Wellington Aero Club received an urgent telegram for the transport of the patient this morning, but it had no suitable machine. Therefore Squadron-Leader Findlav flew from Wigram in a Puss Moth, and took the sufferer on here.
