WRESTLING
DUNEDIN, November 26After one of the hardest contests ever seen in Dunedin, George Walker (13.12) beat Billy Meeske (13.4) on points, in the Town Hall to-night, each man securing a fall. The bout was chiefly remarkable for marvellous displays of strength given by both wrestlers, who, as they left the ring, appeared little the worse for the gruelling experience. Meeske did practically all the attacking in the first three rounds, and in the fourth he forced Walker to concede a fall with a step over toe hold. Walker livened up during the fifth and sixth rounds, and early in ihe seventh, as the Australian was rising from the mat, he was caught in a body slam. Walker hurling him heavily to the mat to secure a fall, with a body press. The final round was wrestled amidst great excitement. Walker frequently throwing Meeske to the mat, but the Australian was still very fit. and he was always dangerous. Neither men could pin the other, and the gong went without any further fall. The referee awarded the bout to Walker, amidst a hostile demonstration from a section of the crowd.
