(Our Own Correspondent.) BEEFTON, November 9. The Homer Gold Mine at Blackwater, is almost at the producing stage. The battery is finished and an eleven h.p., Diesel engine has installed to drive it. This was given a run last week along with the battery of five heads of stampers. All went without a hlitch. It is expected to start crushing next week and to ke-ep going continuously for a long time to come. The Cognpany have already 400 tons of .stone at grass, while they have 120' feet of backs, above No. 1 Level and 70 feet above No. 2 LevelThe stJone is of good and should give handsohne returns to the owners, Messrs D. Absalom and FHarrison, who have spent (two years of the hard work in developing and erecting the battery.

A cricket match was played ou Reeft'on Racecourse yesterday between teams representing the manned and single Club members, resulting in a win for the latter by 105 runs to 73. P. Scott, with the golod innings of 53. was the outstanding batsman of the day, and W .Blopn compiled a useful 33. J. Sife-ttery w’as in good form behind wicket, and had the batsmen getting back to the crease smartly. On the whole, the game was a go|od one. The Reefton team promises to' be in fair form for the match against Waiuta on the 15th, when the first round of the Pratt .Cup will be commenced.

He then asked Mrs Greengrass to bowl the first ball whac’h that lady did in a true bowler’s style, amid applause.

Three rinks were played against Reefton, and resulted in. the latter lieing the more experienced players, having a comfortable win. All the Reefton players expressed surprise at. the good surface of the green and the excellence off its drawing. During the afternoon the ladies supplied delightful afternoon tea to all present and needless to say it proved very acceptable. Before leaving, Mr Noble, President of the Beefton Bowling Club, thanked the Waiuta Club for the invitation to be present at the official opening of the gree n and also pointed 'out the excellence of the playing surface, stating that nowhere in the Dominion could a green, be found that would play as true on an opening day.
