WESTLAND ELECTORATE

LA FONTAINE DRAINAGE. Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., who has been urging the Minister of Lands to complete the drainage of the La Fontaine swamp, has now received the following reply from the Minister:— A‘ Dear Sir, — lam in receipt of your letter of the 10th instant, in which you made representations concerning the drainage of the la Fontaine swamp. In reply I have to. inform you that the Lands Development Board recently considered a report submitted by the Advisory Committee set up under the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1929, and in view of the information .contained therein, I regret to state that it was considered inadvisable to expend loan moneys by way of drainage at the present time. —Yours faithfully E. A. Ransom, Minister of Lands.”
