Somewhat forestalling Miss Lily Coppiestone, Roger Tronquet, aged twenty-one, a Frenchman, crossed the English Channel in seven and. a-half hours on a surf board measuring five feet by two feet. He was towed by a motor fishing boat from Boulogne to Folkestone.

Tronquet. who was wearing a greased bathing costume, with difficulty retained his balance, though holding two ropes. He suffered from cramp and from bleeding of the feet owing to the wave wash. LILY COPPLESTONE. LONDON, October 10. Though it is over late to swim tho Channel, Miss Lily Coppiestone hopes to cross the Channel on an aquaplane.
