UNEMPLOYMENT BOARD
SOUTH ISLAND TRIP. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, October 4. The members of the Unemployment Board left for the South on Saturday evening to investigate various relief works and related matters. They intended to travel to Dunedin to-night, afterwards proceeding to Invercargill to-morrow. It is understood the Board will inspect the Kingston-Queenstown road, work on which Was discontinued when it was planned to get a new steamer for the Lake service. Now this proposal has been abandoned. It is believed to be likely that the road will therefore be completed, providing good motor communication between Southland and the Cold Lakes district.
